Match Report
Marlborough College Malaysia Girls-U14A vs  United World College of Southeast Asia - East Coast (UWCE)
On: Monday, 29 Jan 2018
Venue: Away

After a slow first five minutes, the girls began to settle into the game and good wide-play from Rhea, saw her look up and perfectly cut the ball back straight to Maha, who expertly finished in from just inside the box. This boosted the girls confidence and soon after, Rhea was able to find space between the defenders and as she was passed the ball, controlled brilliantly and beat the goalkeeper for 2-0. Constant pressure from MCM saw more chances created and our play continue to improve and Issy was able to score a third for MCM from just outside the box. Heather was nearly able to add a fourth just before half-time but her powerful shot cannoned back off the crossbar.

In the second half, again, we started a bit slowly and UWC-East came into the game a lot more. Their play was much more promising, causing us problems defensively and they put this into work with a finely worked goal. MCM worked through this tough patch and whilst we did struggle to create chances, we remained in the game and Zara made some excellent saves to preserve MCM's two goal lead. Sophia worked consistently hard and was so determined to score and started off a frenzy in the last exchanges. She beat her opponent and was able to beat the goalkeeper to the ball and poke it just past her for 4-1. Rhea then grabbed her second goal of the game with another 1v1 finish and was unlucky not to get her hat-trick in a goalmouth scramble. Heather than grabbed two fantastic goals to finish the game, one from outside the box on a half volley which went into the roof of the net and another half-volley as she swept home a corner kick first time.

An excellent performance after some initial nerves. A great team performance.
