Match Report
Marlborough College Malaysia Girls-U14A vs  Singapore American School (SAS) Girls-U14B
On: Wednesday, 24 Jan 2018
Venue: Away

The girls arrived at SAS in great spirits off the back of their victories at Tanglin and looked forward to taking on one of the biggest schools in Singapore, renowned for their football talent.

Early on in the match, Sophia was able to break through the defence and when faced 1v1 with the goalkeeper was able to finish to give MCM an early 1-0 lead.

With some end to end play, Marlborough found themselves having plenty of chances. Astute defending by Issy, Ebell and Mahana and some great saves from Zara ensured the MCM goal was not breached.

Chances came constantly for MCM. Michelle just missed from real distance with a curling strike. A fantastic cross from Sophia found Lidiia in the box at the back post and she did everything amazingly - bravely heading the ball back in the direction the cross had came in from and was within centre metres of scoring right in the top corner. Clever play from Sophia allowed Rhea a difficult chance which she took fantastically with her left foot, striking the ball across the goal and again came within inches of scoring and even then Liidia followed it up and came even closer but the second goal was not to come just yet.

Unfortunately, just before half-time, the SAS lightning alarm went off and the match had to be abandoned temporarily. Due to the size of the storm, the match had to be entirely postponed. Nonetheless, the girls performed fantastically well and equipped themselves very well. We look forward to returning to SAS to play their A team in two weeks.
